We constantly research traditional piano manufacturing methods and also work with modern manufacturers to keep abreast of the latest technological developments. In this way we can meet the increasing technical demands of the modern pianist, who requires an instrument which can deliver extremes of colour, texture and dynamic, as well as the particular and varied demands of a wide range of grand pianos.
We approach all restorations carefully and employ materials and techniques that are sympathetic to the period of manufacture. Restoration is pointless and detrimental to an instrument's tonal character and value if modern parts and strings are used on older pianos.
Some of the historically important pianos that Aaron has either restored or helped to restore include the Australian Prime Minister's piano in Canberra, the Government House piano in Melbourne, an early Australian piano built by Gerhard Reicher and early fortepianos once owned by Schubert and Chopin.
We restore pianos from the whole of the UK and Europe and guarantee all of our work for a minimum of ten years (subject to conditions).
