Aaron Shackleford: Director

  For me, the piano is one of civilisation's most interesting inventions. My interest was captured when, as a young child, I lifted the top lid of the family piano and saw how the hammers hit the strings when I pressed the keys. This action and the sound that it produced was, and still is, truly remarkable.  I started working on pianos as a teenager in 1984. I was fortunate to begin my career with Wayne Stuart, who is now recognised as one of the world's great piano makers through his Stuart and Sons concert grands. I have also learned from master technicians such as Yoji Suzuki (Yamaha), Max Matthias (Steinway Hamburg), Franz Mohr (Steinway New York) and Gerhard Felmann (Bösendorfer) as well as piano designer Mark Allen and Nicholas Rogé,
an early piano restorer and maker. Keith Hill and Pietor Zimmerman enabled me to explore further aspects of acoustics and the instrument making process. In this line of work I am very lucky to meet people who share my passion for the piano. Some of these are technicians and professional concert pianists who demand the best that an instrument can deliver. As well as working with the technicians listed above, I have also collaborated with concert pianists such as Pascal Rogé, Andreas Staier, Piers Lane, Nikolai Demidenko, Roger Woodwood, Christina Ortiz, Mike Oldfield,  and Barry Douglas.

I similarly enjoy working with people who make their living doing "a day job" but who love the piano just as much as the professionals. In short, I value meeting all types of people and sharing their love of the piano. 

 I can proudly say that my interest and education in pianos is lifelong. My main objective is to make you extremely happy with your piano and your music.

Dom & Karl: Piano removals


 		 Specialising in Piano removals Dom and Karl are a huge assest to our team and will ensure that your beautiful piano arrives from our showrooms to your home in tip top condition.

Having Dom & Karl working for us has allowed us to expand our transport and as a result we have created another subsidairy of the Shackleford Pianos Group called 'Expert piano removals'

The transport team are out every day transporting pianos all over the UK and even beyond. We take weekly trips to London and a trip every 2/3 months to Ireland and Scotland, as far as Aberdeen!

Not only do we do weekly trips to London but we also travel mainland Uk each day, Liverpool, Manchester, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire as well as our own county, Cheshire. - If you have a piano that needs moving, we are the people to contact,

Whilst working at Shackleford Pianos Dom & Karl have also started to learn piano restoration, helping them to appreciate the beauty of pianos along with their weight!

Both based in Macclesfield these two make a great, friendly piano removals team!

Martin Houghton :  Piano Technician

 Martin is Shackleford Pianos all round handy man and workshop supervisor.  Martin is currently working on our used pianos and the piano restorations, working on the piano keys, actions and also the cabinets. 

Martin is a real assest to our team and is a fantastic, great, hard working technician. 

Martin is also a dab hand at pool and darts as we found out at our christmas party!



Barry Moss : French Polishing

  Barry is Shackleford Pianos French polisher. With a natural eye for detail and finish on his pianos. French polishing is a skill that takes years to master. Not only does Barry french polish pianos but he also turns his skill to furniture so if you have a piece of furniture that needs polishing then get in touch! 

Based in Macclesfield, Barry is a real assest to our team and is a great, hard working technician. 





Lionel Labriffe: Piano Technician

 

Lionel is a brilliant and hard working addition to our Shackleford Pianos team. Born and raised in France, Lionel moved away from cinema photography to retrain as a piano technician spending three years at studying piano tuning and technology at ITEMM

Lionel has quickly become a highly valued member of our Shackleford Pianos team and has settled into Macclesfield life, owning a loyalty card to the local takeaway! 


Mo Wild: Piano Technician


 Mo qualified at City Leeds College of music in 1993 after being inspired to become a piano technician as her mum is a pianist.

Mo is a recent addition to our tuning team but she has already become indispensable. Her work is top rated and her attention to detail is exceptional.

Mo is based in Whaley Bridge and is proudly Derbyshire! She played Cricket for England and is a huge cat lover!  


Joan: Piano Technician

 Joan is the newest member of our team and all the way from Catalonia.

He is a fully trained piano technician and has worked arcoss Europe with pianos. Prior to joining Shackleford pianos, Joan has worked at 'Fontepiano Tallen' in Barcelona, 'Chavanne' in Toulouse and 'Queens pianos' in Brussels.

We are proud to welcome such a talanted technician to our team.

Joan is really musical in his spare time and plays piano and drums and also skateboards.



Kaite Helps: Marketing & Administration

  Born in Bristol, Kaite assists with our marketing and administration. Working on our websites, promotional material and bookwork. In her spare time Kaite is an Artist and Gallery Director of Marburae Art Gallery which is based within our piano showrooms and quickly becoming recognised as holding exciting exhibitions by national and International Artists. www.artinmacclesfield.co.uk



Shackleford Pianos also supports Itemm (Institut technologique européen des métiers de la musique) in Le Mans, France. We invite students from the world famous specialist music college to come and do work placements at our workshops and put their tuning skills into a real working environment. Below are some of the students that have travelled to Shackleford Pianos for a placement. 

 Ariane is our latest trainee piano technician from Itemm. Airane is studying piano tuning, regulation and theory at the famous college in Le Mans. She has many musical talents and plays the piano, guitar, Cello, saxaphone, Claranet and flute! Ariane wants to become a piano tuner and would love to work anywhere in the world - She has been fantastic whilst at Shackleford pianos so has a really bright future!
  Jules trained at Shackleford pianos at the beginning of 2013 for 3 weeks as a piano technician. Also studying at Itemm Jules was a great addition to our team
 Timothee was strained at Shackleford pianos as part of his course at Itemm in December 2011. He learnt all aspect of piano tuning within a working environment and taught us the art of getting drunk the french way!
