About Feurich upright Pianos
Throughout the world German knowledge and experience of piano building have, for generations, been held in the highest esteem. Established in 1851 Feurich pianos have played a major role in creating this tradtion. Built by skilled craftsmen Feurich pianos have been recognised as attaining to the highest industry standards, and incorporate the inherent tonal qualities for which the German Piano industry is renowned. Why do we speak so
highly of Feurich pianos? The answer to this question
is very easy - Feurich are simply the best value for money pianos in the
world! No other brand comes close in offering the quality of design,
construction, and finish that the Feurich piano range offers,
to buy better quality you are going to have to spend £30,000+ for a
fully hand made and finished grand piano. (This would have to be
European hand made - German, Austrian, Italian etc, Japanese pianos do
not come close in quality.) Come in and play the Feurich piano range, we know you will be taken with the quality of touch, tone,
and appearence. A true treat for your senses.
There are several different types of Feurich Upright Pianos and as Shackleford Pianos Cheshire is the distribution center for the UK we have all of them in stock. Below is some information taken from the Feurich website about each piano.
Feurich 115 Premiere:
The design and construction of the 115 Feurich Piano started in Germany with Rolf Ibach.
Shackleford Pianos works with Feurich 115's on a daily basis as we prepare them to be shipped all over the country. We believe that the new upright Model 115 - Premiere is an instrument that will take a leading position in the piano world, regarding tone, touch and design, as well as size.
Feurich 122 Universal:
The Feurich 122 is an award winning best seller for Feuirch due to it's strong tone that over shadows most baby grand pianos. The Feurich 122 universal was redesigned in 2011 to ensure that it had the most up to date technology but still with the sound and touch of a classic piano.
Feurich 125 Design:
The Feurich 125 design upright piano is a more playful and stylish version of the Feurich 122 universal. The cabinet with it's pinstripes appelas to design lovers world wide whilst the workings of the piano take the best bits from the Feurich 122 Universal. Overall, creating a masterpiece, not only to look at but to play.
Feurich 133 Concert:
Feurich have a huge reputation for creating perfect small pianos such as the 115 premiere model. This lead to a want from their customers to create a concert standard model that could out play grand pianos. As such Feurich created the Feurich 133 Concert piano. At a height of 133cm this piano has a full sounding tone and will please any professional pianist.

In 1851 Julius Gustav
Feurich founded Feurich pianos at Angerstrasse 38 in the famous German piano
making city of Leipzig. The Feurich family has a history that was and still is
steeped in harpsichord and musical instrument making, although today Feurich's
main aim is the design and production of some of the finest quality pianos in
the world.
From the start Julius
Feurich was particularly forward thinking in his concepts and designs for the
types of pianos he was to manufacture. Feurich took into consideration the
pianist, (those who play the piano) the listener, (those who have to listen to
the piano) and the piano tuner / technician, (those who have to maintain the
pianos - the person most piano makers forget!) From the very start of
production Feurich pianos uprights models had superior tonal qualities and were
far more resonant for their size than any other make of piano. This was due to
Feurich's superior bridge design, (where the stings vibration is transferred into
the sound board,) scale design, (how the strings tension is determined,) and
soundboard construction, (the part of the piano that resonates.) Add to this
Feurich upright pianos were supplied with an underdamper styled action, the
same style piano action as used in pianos today. Most other German piano makers
took up this then modern piano innovation around 50 years later. Feurich was
also one of the first piano makers to design and make 'ship' pianos - these are
pianos that have a keyboard that can fold up out of the way when the piano
isn't in use, minimising the size of the piano when situated in a small space.
The Feurich piano
enterprise grew rapidly and at the turn of the twentieth century the company
would boast a huge factory with 360 workers producing 1200 uprights and 600
grands annually, and the piano were shipped all over the world where the
company had gained a reputation for making some of the worlds finest pianos.
The Feurich piano
factory was complete with a concert hall where famous pianists of the day delivered
performances on Feurich pianos to large appreciative audiences. Sadly, during
the Second World War Feurich pianos manufacturing plant was completely
destroyed - a fate suffered by many of the piano makers in Germany as their
factory's were superior in size, technology and output, and had been employed
by Hitler's Germany in the manufacture if weaponry, making them a prime target
for the allies aerial bombing raids.
In the 1950's Feurich pianos relaunched,
endeavouring to rebuild the company's former world-class piano making reputation.
However, the partitioning of Eastern Germany by the USSR made this situation
increasingly frustrating, as the sourcing of traditional piano making
craftsmanship, parts and materials was often difficult at the time due to the
regions policy to divert materials and workforce into heavy industry. In
December 1959, the company was expropriated by the communist regime and in such
circumstances the business naturally fell into decline.
Julius Hermann of the
fourth generation of the Feurich piano making family decided to defect for West
Germany. Here he set up a new home for Feurich pianos at a production complex
in Langlau, Middle-Franconia, Bavaria. From then on, the enterprise re-established
the firm business foundations it had in achieved the pre-war years.
Since 1993, the
company achieved full autonomy building a new state of the arts factory in
Gunzenhausen, Middle-Franconia.
Shackleford Pianos in Feurich distribution deal:
Shackleford Pianos has recently confirmed a distribution deal with Feurich pianos which is based in Vienna, Austria.
Feurich
Pianos, a German piano company has chosen Shackleford Pianos, based in
Macclesfield, Cheshire, to be their distribution centre for the UK.
Shackleford
Pianos have been selected above all other piano companies in the UK due to
their ability to distribute nationwide and their technical ability to prepare
the Feurich pianos for sale to the British market, distributing as far as
Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Another factor for the big move by Feurich is that
it is cheaper to distribute the pianos from Macclesfield, than it is to
distribute them from port cities such as Liverpool or London.
Feurich is
one of the fastest growing piano manufacturers in Europe due to the
amalgamation with Wendl & Lung Pianos and also Hailun Pianos. The companies
were joined together to create one larger piano manufacturer with vast
technical experience and tradition in making and manufacturing capabilities in
order to address the issue of cheap Chinese made and 2nd hand
Japanese imports, such as Yamaha, affecting the German market.
"We are very
proud to be recognised by Feurich to have the ability to not only prepare their
pianos but to deal with the logistics of distributing them nationwide. We
believe that this is an important move by a European company and puts
Macclesfield firmly on the map when it comes to pianos" Aaron Shackleford,
Director of Shackleford Pianos.
Shackleford
Pianos is based on Athey Street. Founded by Aaron Shackleford in 2008 it is one
of the fastest growing companies in Macclesfield and the team are well
recognised within the industry for their expertise with all aspects of pianos,
including sales, removals, restorations, tunings and hires. This story featured in Manchester Evening News, Macclesfield Express, Cheshire Independant and The Manufacturer!
